One day spent exploring Dinan, a Town of Art and History

We decided to visit the town of Dinan during our holiday in Brittany. We were advised to head there by some friends who knew that we were interested in heritage and arts and crafts.

To make sure we didn't miss out on anything the town had to offer, we decided to enlist the services of a guide from the tourist information centre.

As we strolled along the cobbled streets, we learnt a bit more about Dinan's mediaeval heritage and the origins of the colourful half-timbered houses. We discovered the breathtaking view from the Clock Tower before exploring the ramparts and visiting the castle.

We enjoyed a well-earned lunch in a crêperie and sampled the famous salted butter caramel we'd heard so much about, before bringing the trip to a close with a walk along the banks of the river Rance.

And of course our trip to Dinan wouldn't have been complete without spending some time in the many arts and craft shops in the famous Rue du Jerzual – where we managed to find a little keepsake to take back for our friends to thank them for recommending this beautiful town!
